Kitchen Appliance Packages

Memories of kitchens past are inspiring kitchen appliance packages manufacturers and decorators to bring back the good old styles.
Some remodelers of Victorian and country-style kitchens are looking at old kitchen appliance packages to complete the old-fashioned charm for those who decide black-glass appliances are out of place in their new-old kitchens. Bulky, rounded corners, gleaming chrome and solidity are traditional features new buyers find appealing.

Old appliances are popular with more than remodelers. Because they’re less expensive, some buy them for the price, apartments or a second kitchen.

At least one manufacturer of small kitchen appliance packages also believes the old look still has selling power.

Sunbeam has reintroduced a rounded toaster, a two-cup coffee percolator, a beehive-style blender and a 12-speed Mixmaster all in chrome and a stainless steel electric kettle.

Chrome was hot in the 1950s. Cars, soda-fountain stools, counter trim and kitchen tables were polished to their reflective best.
The new old look may ooze nostalgia on the outside, but the workings and design are thoroughly modern.

The Classic kettle, for example, has an automatic shut-off and operating signal light. Extra-wide slots in the toaster accommodate different breads, waffles, pastries and English muffins. The blender sports a free-floating system to reduce noise and wear.
Appliance makers are also catering to the smaller kitchen. To pare down the mess in any kitchen, especially a small one, manufacturers have invented sleeker kitchen appliance packages.

Their lines are smooth, fronts are flush to integrate with cabinets and colors match so they blend into the background.
There are three basic responses in the drive to save space. Mountable, downsized and multi-functional kitchens appliance package deals are available in most small machines.

Mountable kitchens appliance packages that go under cabinets aren’t actually smaller, but they appear to take less space because they’re streamlined.

Mountable give the impression of built-ins, but must be positioned carefully so they aren’t in the way. For that reason, Sunbeam found such kitchen appliance packages weren’t that popular.

Downsized versions are most popular. At about half the size, they are good for the counter-top — and they are movable. But most are still powerful enough to perform basic functions.

A small food processor, for example, may have a reduced bowl but it can still chop and slice as quickly and easily. They can be as light as one kilogram. Coffeemakers that brew one or two cups take up little space.

Multi-functional kitchen appliance packages may not be small but one can take the place of two or three.
